Spirometer Remote Vitals
How to remotely view data from a connected Spirometry device in real time
During a Video Call consultation, you have the option to view data from a patient using a connected Spirometry device in real time. Once you launch the Remote Vitals application and instruct your patient to connect their bluetooth or USB enabled health device to the Video Call, you will see the results live in the call screen. You have the option to manage control for participants, take a screenshot for the patient's record, export data and more.
Please see below for instructions regarding supported Spirometry devices and how to use the Remote Vitals App to connect a device during a Video Call consultation.
The device we have integrated is called Spirohome which enables patients to perform personal spirometry testing at home. The intended purpose of the spirometer with the developed application is to measure lung air volume and airflow rate for pulmonary disease diagnosis and screening.
Spirohome Personal Spirometer

To connect the spirometer to the Video Call, the health service provider clicks on Apps & Tools > Remote Vitals
![]()
The App opens and the patient clicks on Add Device and selects the device connection type (eg Bluetooth) in the pop up window. Alternatively, you can click on Bluetooth for Another User in your screen and select the participant to prompt them to connect their device.
Your patient will then see a list of their active health devices appear on their screen, allowing them to select the required device to connect it into the Video Call.

The setup page will load. Select the options you require and either:
- Start Calibration - this will calibrate the device and then start the trial
- Skip Calibration - this will allow you to start a trial straight away.

Once the trial starts and the patient starts blowing into the device, the results will display in the call screen.
