Select your required microphone and speakers for Video Call

How to change to another available microphone or speaker for Video Call


If you have more than one microphone or speaker available on your computer or device, you can select the correct option quickly and easily during a call, as required. Patient and clients using the clinic link to access the clinic waiting area also have the option to select their preferred option prior to the call being joined. You could, for example, switch to a back camera to focus on a specific wound or health issue, or you may want to share a medical scope into the call.

There are a few ways to select or switch to the correct microphone and/or speaker during a call:

Device Picker for desktop and laptop users

The microphone/speaker device picker for desktop and laptop users allows users to easily select their preferred option from the list of available devices. Click the arrow next to the microphone button at the bottom left of the call screen and select the desired mic/speaker from the list. Device pickers are also available for patients and other guests in the patient join flow screens, when they are using a desktop or laptop.

In the call screen, click on the arrow next to the microphone icon.

 

Select the desired devices from the list. You can also test your mic and speakers in this window, to ensure they are working correctly.

For patients and other guests attending their Video Call via a laptop or desktop, the device picker is available to select their preferred mic/speaker.

 

Please note this option is only available if the clinic administrator has enabled it, in the Joining A Call config section.

 
 

Select your microphone/speaker in the Settings drawer

Click on the Settings cog during your call, to open the Settings drawer. You can select your preferred microphone and/or speaker from the available options, if required.

You can select your required microphone and speaker from the options, if you have more than one available for your computer or device.

 

 
 

Microphone and speaker selection in the patient join flow screens - for mobile users

Callers on a mobile device using the clinic link to come into the required waiting area for a consultation have the option to select their required camera, microphone and speaker before they are joined in the call by their health service provider. They do this by clicking on the Settings cog under their video preview and selecting their preferred devices.

Under their camera preview callers will see these icons, if enabled in the clinic:

 

  • Camera - mute and unmute your camera
  • Mic - mute and unmute your mic
  • Settings (highlighted) - check and change the device settings, if required, including selecting the correct camera, microphone and speaker for the call.

 

By clicking on the Settings Cog, callers can view and select their preferred camera, microphone and speaker, if required.
