Video Call control buttons on your mobile device

Quick Reference Guide

Video Call consultation screen

During a Video Call consultation, you have access to various call control buttons. You can use these as required during your call.

The control buttons at the top and bottom of the call screen on a mobile device are highlighted in this image.

See below for more information regarding each button’s functionality.

At the bottom left of your screen are the main call screen buttons:

Settings

Click on the Settings Cog (highlighted in the top image) if you need to change any settings in your call. You only need to change settings if required, so usually you will not need to do this.

The Settings drawer opens and you can select your preferred camera (front and back cameras available on the device), microphone or speaker. You can adjust your audio or video quality, if required, and select a virtual background.

Click the arrow at the top right of the Settings drawer to close Settings.

Hang up button

Your health service provider will usually end the call once the consultation is finished.

If required, you can press the red hang up button and click to Leave Call. This means the call will end for you.

Refresh Connections

You can refresh the call connections if any media (video or audio in the call) issues arise, to help resolve the issue. Let others in the call know before you do this.

When you press the Refresh Connections button you will see a confirmation screen informing you that you are about to re-establish the call connections.

Mute Mic or Camera

These control buttons allow you to mute either your audio (the mic icon) or turn off your camera in the call (the camera icon). You will not usually need to mute either of these during a call.

If you are in a group call or if you need to mute briefly for any other reason, you can mute your microphone. If you do, remember to turn it back on when you want to speak.

Switch Camera

During a Video Call on your mobile device, you may need to switch your camera. This includes flipping between your front and back cameras, if required. Click here for more detailed information.

This image shows a Video Call consultation in progress. To switch your camera, click on the Switch Camera control button, highlighted in red.

Raise Hand

In a call with multiple participants, you have the option to raise your hand if you would like to speak. The host in the call will see your raised hand and can let you know when it is your turn to speak.

The bottom image shows a patient with their hand raised. There is a yellow hand indicator in their screen and the Raise Hand button turns red for them. You can also see the raised hand in their name.

You can lower your raised hand by clicking the same button.

Top right control buttons:

Chat

Click on the Chat icon to send messages within your call, if required. Type your message and press return to send a chat message.

All participants can see and type chat messages

Apps & Tools

Use App & Tools to share resources such as images, files and videos into your call. The top image shows the control button highlighted and the bottom image shows the Apps & Tools drawer open, showing some of the available options.

The options include:

Share an image or PDF

Add a whiteboard

Add a video

Share a file
