The Video Call Savings Calculator is a free tool that helps in estimating the environmental and patient cost impact of substituting in-person consults with virtual care, in the form of video, phone or a mixture of both. By entering details such as appointment volume, patient location or travel distance and service assumptions, the calculator will show the potential emissions avoided and the likely savings for patients. It is designed as a practical planning and reporting tool for organisations wanting to understand and communicate the value of virtual care. There are more fields that can be filled/edited depending on the mode and configured settings however these are optional.
The calculator is based on the Virtual Health Emissions Measurement Framework, offering two ways to model results: a simplified Modified Monash approach for quicker estimates, and a more detailed distance-based approach for more tailored scenarios. Once data is entered, the tool generates clear results and shareable graphics that can be used in team updates, presentations, reports, and other communications. You can also directly share the results and configuration with others via the built in QR code and URL generator, found in the share button in the results card.
