Embedded Call View Trial

Embedding the call screen in the waiting area view allows for visibility of all callers in the waiting area


The feature is currently in a trial phase. Please contact the Video Call team if you would like to have this feature enabled in your clinic and participate in the trial.

Clinic administrators will soon have the option to configure the call screen to be embedded in the waiting area view for all calls in the clinic (admins go to Configure > Joining a call > Waiting Area Call Join Behaviour > Embed. This option is designed to reduce interruptions and allows visibility of all callers in the waiting area while in an active call, without the need for clinic members (hosts in the call) to tab between the call screen and the waiting area. Hosts in a call can also access waiting area and clinic functionality while maintaining visibility of the call screen. This can reduce clinician stress, clicks, and cognitive load, especially when they have back to back appointments.

The Video Call screen functionality remains the same, however it will look a little different for users familiar with the standard call screen in its own browser tab or window. Click here for detailed call screen functionality information.

When Embedded Call View is configured for calls in the clinic, all calls will open in this view. See the below example showing the call screen open to the right in the waiting area view, with visibility of caller activity and other waiting area functionality to the left.

Join the call in the waiting area in the usual way. 

 

The call screen will open embedded in the waiting area view.

 

Minimise or maximise the embedded call screen, as required.

 

Minimised view displays the waiting area to the left of the call screen - image 1.

Maximised view displays the call screen covering the waiting area section - image 2.

Add another caller to your call easily from the waiting area view at left, without needing to navigate away from the call screen.

To add a caller waiting in another clinic to your call:

  • Click the clinic name dropdown to select another available clinic.
  • The selected clinic opens in a new tab, however please note the patient in your call can still see and hear you (the call screen remains open in the original browser tab).
  • Click Add to add a caller to your current call and then tab back to the Embedded call screen.

Waiting area functionality in embedded view

You can access the left menu options such as the Dashboard and Meeting Rooms, via the menu icons. In this example a clinic administrator has selected the Configure menu and the call remains embedded to the right of the screen.

 

When the call is ended the call screen will close and the star rating screen or any configured survey for the clinic will open.

 

You can close this screen using the X at top right to see the waiting area full view.
